Alfresco Integration Now Available

We've just released our first integration with an open source product - Alfresco.  Alfresco is an open source alternative for enterprise content management with a rapidly growing client base and a rapidly developing product that is now a real contender within the ECM space.

If you've been following the Alfresco story you will know that they had a very successful 2006 and their plans for 2007 look even more exciting.

We're excited to be releasing the EditLive! integration with Alfresco on LiveWorks! and as I write this I realize that the integration represents a few firsts.  This is the first integration available on LiveWorks and is EditLive!'s first integration with an open source product, one that is the first completely open source enterprise content management solution available.  To add to this we've already got our first major client working with the integration and, while I can't mention their name for confidentiality reasons (they're a Fortune 500 company), I know that they're very happy with the integration and with Alfresco.  In particular they love the addition of spell checking as you type, editor stability, image upload and track changes.

The integration is available free of charge as a LiveWorks! project, though you will need to purchase a license for EditLive! to use the integration in a production environment.  We're also already looking for ways to improve the integration and extend it to work with Alfresco's new web content management functionality.  One of the first improvements will be available shortly to link Alfresco's user management with EditLive!'s track changes functionality.  If you have any more suggestions please let everyone know via the LiveWorks! mailing list.

This is a great start to LiveWorks! and to 2007.  It's definitely a sign of things to come.  If you're working with Alfresco and you're looking for enterprise class content authoring to complement your new open source enterprise content management system download the EditLive! integration and see what a difference it can make to your Alfresco install.
